Its boom time on the Internet. 'Dot coms' in India are being born in unprecedented numbers each day and almost seem to compete with India's other major achievement - childbirth. Each day one gets to read of numerous portals being launched; job portals, news portals, shopping portals, matrimonial portals, finance portals and what have you. Unfortunately, the survival rate of these dot coms may not match that of the babies. Industry experts today forecast a mortality rate of 90% for non-revenue based models, following the recent NASDAQ and Indian bourses 'correction'. This is something that Pugmarks has been professing, albeit in a low tone, for over four years. This however, does not mean that the Internet is soon going to be passé. It’s not a fad. In fact it is gaining roots in India very quickly, quite on the lines of what is happening in USA, proving to become a very powerful business tool. It offers some of the most advantageous features missing in earlier communication revolutions like telephone, TV, fax, satellite, cable, pager & mobile phones. All these technologies are at a convergence on the Internet. You have Voice & Fax over IP as an extension of Telephone and Fax. 'Video-on-demand' no longer looks like a distant dream, Pager & Mobile phones are linked to your emails and interactive modes on WAP (Wireless Access Protocol). This whole quest to reach one person - YOU. I don't recall a fiercer battle in business to get to a customer ever before. To address you as an individual on a one-to-one basis, to cross boundaries across geographical limitations, to widen the marketing reach, to pamper you with services and information and offer you substantial price advantages. Internet as a tool is making it all possible. Those busineses who realize it's potential early will cut their supply supply chain cost, improve efficiency & response time and beat the competition. Others will probably face a tapering growth or perish. Pugmarks has played its role in making this powerful tool work for various clients. In fact, in our endeavor to provide a one-stop solution to our clients, our skill-sets have been very wide.
