Hum Saath Saath Hain

After "Maine Pyar Kiya" (M.P.K) and "Hum Aapke Hain Kaun" (H.A.H.K) everyone was waiting with bated breaths for Sooraj Barjatya's third offering.

Along with the Diwali lights the theatres have lit up with Rajshri's latest mega starrer. It definitely is big, colourful & sleekly packaged but H.A.H.K it's not!

The movie opens with the whole cast getting together to celebrate Ramkishen (Alok Nath) and Mamta's (Reema Lagoo) silver wedding anniversary. Ramkishan believes in the traditional Indian values of eating together, praying together and staying together. A real tall order in today's times of nuclear and single parent families! Perhaps this fantasy & feel-good atmosphere is what keeps the audience glued to their seats.

Ramkishan has four lovely grown up kids who share very close bonds with each other and with their parents. Eldest son (Mohnish Behl) marries Sadhana (Tabu) and the marriage provides another opportunity for much singing and fanfare. Prem (Salman Khan) gets engaged to Preeti (Sonali Bendre) and the third and youngest, Vinod (Saif Ali Khan) falls in love with Sapna (Karisma Kapoor)

Ramkishan dreams of keeping his entire family always together. The happiness of this picture perfect family is marred when the brothers' only sister (Neelam) and her husband (Mahesh Thakur) are thrown out of their house due to some family dispute.

The whole family is extremely upset over Sangeeta's (Neelam) predicament but they manage to sail through this crisis by staying together & being there for each other H.A.H.K and M.P.K were absolute winners on account of their excellent music score. This is where Hum Saath Saath Hain falls way below the mark.

Director Sooraj Barjatya has strived to give us another mega entertainer but the weak story line in places and the uninspired music may just stop the movie from being a mega-hit.
