Hey
Ram
|
| An
engrossing tale of a fun loving and apolitical
Saket Ram (Kamal Haasan) who is happily married
(Rani Mukharjee), till the violence simmering on
the streets knocks on their door and spills venom
on Saket's (Kamal Haasan) beautiful wife (Rani
Mukherjee). His wrath gets the better of him as
he pledges to take revenge co-opted by the
Hindutva Brigade and he travels from Calcutta to
Madras. There
he meets his second wife (Vasundhara Das) with
whom he is completely enchanted with, but once
the passion subsides he's back to what he had
started out for: Revenge. And in the maze, Saket
Ram moves from Madras to Delhi and meets up with
his long lost friend Amjad, (Shah Rukh Khan) and
comes to term with the Hindu-Muslim 'bhai bhai'
sentiment.
The film is
replete with some love- making scenes which have
been handled well by Haasan. This is second in
the series of 'nationalist' themes that Kamal
Haasan has worked on, first being ' Hindustani'.
Needless to say, this one's certainly an
improvement over his last venture, that has
croved his directing prowess.
A must see.
