| Any venture, however ambitious, by
any director two months in the past would have
been suicidal. What with the Hritik frenzy
turning on the heat of the nation in chilly mid
winter! After that massive singular burst of
energy, talent, heart-stopping looks, the dashing
heroes of Bollywood seem old hat. Man, it would
have taken a hell lot of guts to launch a Salman
in the same silly mould, the ah-no-different
dance steps and my-body-is-the-greatest looks. Dulhan
Hum Le Jayenge is supposed to be a comedy, tries
to be a comedy, and might even make some people
laugh, hey! But surely a delight for all you
Karishma watchers. She could win the the fittest
heroine of the country award! Not to speak of the
sporty way she carries off all those amazingly
itzy bitzy skirts! Talking of meat, the
charecterisation is typical David Dhawan stuff.
As is the practice these days a world tour is
imminent. Karishma goes off on one. Meets up with
hunk Salman. The rest of it is all about Salman
trying to win over Karishma's three starkly
different shades of uncles. Paresh the pundit, Om
the pehelwaan, and Anupam the puppy. How he does
it... ah! this is where Dhawan gets his comedy
act in and well... it works at times and there
are times again when some scenes look familiar
and ring a bell.
On
the whole an okay film. Quite watchable if you
know and like how Dhawan's mind works! And of
course if you are searching for a decent story,
cinematography, acting prowess and performances
and then don't find any of these, then just sit
back and enjoy the sight of the superb gym
sculpted bodies of the lead role players!!
