Angaaray
Starring: Akshay Kumar, Nagarjuna, Gulshan Kumar, Sonali Bendre & Pooja Bhatt
Director: Mahesh Bhatt

When it comes to action films, rest assured the hot spot of all the violence & gore is the underworld. You have a hero & you have a villain, there are confrontations galore & ultimately good triumphs over evil. End of story.

Angaaray too has come off the assembly line but here the masalas have been mixed differently by the hand of Mahesh Bhatt. You see, in this film, the heroes are the villains too! There's Raja (Nagarjuna) & Surya (Irfan Kamal) playing the role of hired killers for underworld ganglord Lala (Gulshan Kumar) while Jaggu (Paresh Rawal) is his hatchet man. But then along comes their childhood buddy, Inspector Amar (Akshay Kumar) who sets about reforming them. This is where the sparks start flying, aided by the ample charms of Sonali Bendre & Pooja Bhatt.

The film moves along at a brisk pace with stunts galore performed by Akshay Kumar himself. The viewer gets a ringside view of the killing sprees & extortion rackets carried out by the underworld dons. Quite fillingly the climax too takes place in the gutters of the city.

The songs in the film are quite hummable, providing a welcome respite to the escalating tension permeating the film.

The strong storyline & the fantastic performance of the entire cast makes this film a must-see.
