2. What are the Steps for Shifting my Domain to Pugmarks Network?
1.Complete our online Shifting form and Pugmarks will file the domain modification request with your Domain Name Registrar like Internic.
2.Domain Name Registrar will email the domain owner i.e. your Admin Contact for authentication for the same.
3.The domain owner must authorize the transfer (usually through email).
4.After receiving verification, Your Domain Name Registrar will transfer the domain.

3. I am already hosted with Pugmarks under 1999 scheme. How can I avail the features of the Free host offer?

You will have to pay the shifting charges of Rs.500.00 / US$ 15 and you can avail all the facilities provided under the Free host offer. Just fill in the online shift domain form.

4. How much will I be charged for Renewal of my Hosting Package Next Year?
The Renewal Fee will be competitively priced and expected to be less than our current price Rs. 2000/year which is lowest on earth.

5. Where do I upload the files for my website?
Logon to the server using your favorite ftp software and the username and password of the site administrator. Change the directory to Web and upload your files here. Remember the name of the default file should be either index.htm or index.html

6. How many users can I create for my Domain Name?
To check up the limit set for your domain logon to siteadmin using site administrator’s username and password. Click on site settings and check out the limits applicable for your domain.

7. How much disk space has been allotted to my Domain?
To check up the limit set for your domain logon to siteadmin using site administrator’s username and password. Click on site settings and check out the limits applicable for your domain.

8. How much disk space has been used by my website and emails?
Logon to siteadmin using site administrator’s username and password. Click on site settings and check out the limits applicable for your domain and disk on disk usage icon on the left-hand panel.

9. Why there is a difference between the sum of space used by individual and total disk space used by the Domain?
The total disk usage of the site includes the disk space used by website, emails, other user data and the raw log data of the website. The difference between sum of space used by individual and total disk space used by the Domain.

10. Where do I go for using the web based administration facility?
Logon to siteadmin in your browser, you will be prompted for a user name and a password. Use the site administrator’s user name and password to enter the web based administration facility.

11. When I add a user, the error say user name already exists, but there is no such user existing under my Domain?
The server which is hosting your domain is also hosting many other domain names as well. Chances are that some one else has created that user. To overcome this what you can do is to create another user and make another entry in aliases box for the original username you wanted to create.

12. How to FTP on Pugmarks Server

As a site administrator, you have the privilege to publish the home page. Once you have created a home page and you want to transfer it on the Pugmarks server appliance, you can upload it by following the steps listed below.

Note: Before uploading your home page, make sure its file name is index.html. The uploaded page will appear at http://<yourname.domain>/index.html.

1.Launch your FTP application, wait for the FTP prompt.
2.Type open <hostname>, press Return or Enter. (<hostname> stands for the site name or IP address of the site that will host your home page).
3.Type your user name when asked for login name, then press Return or Enter.
4.Type your password when asked for password, then press Return or Enter.
5.Change directory to /web by typing cd /web and enter or by clicking change directory button and manually inputing /web. This takes you to the directory for your site home page. Warning: the directory you see here, named "web" is NOT your site root and putting contents here will not publish it. The published directory or the "root" of your site is /web.
6.Type put <path>/index.html, press Return or Enter. This uploads the file (<path> stands for the directory location of your home page file on your local disk ).
7.Type quit, then press Return or Enter. This terminates the file transfer session.
8.Done!

13. I forgot my server admin and FTP password? What should I do?
Write to freehost@pugmarks.com and your new password would be emailed to you at your email address in our records.

14. Where do I put my CGI scripts on the server?
Anywhere under /web directory. This /web is the same directory which has all the files of your website.

15. Can I create an email user without generating a home page for the user?
No, when an e-mail user account is created, an accompanying web page is also generated.
Another option is creating e-mail aliases to forward e-mail to another account that is not on the RaQ.

16. Is there a limitation on the number of messages in the user's mailbox?
While there is no limitation to the number of messages, there is a limitation set by the disk quota of the user. The quota also applies to the space used for home pages and other data in the user's home directory.

21. I have uploaded the site contents and still I see the u/c page of Pugmarks.

Well it could be that you have uploaded the site contents in the wrong directory. The site contents have to be uploaded in the /web directory in order to be published. This directory is one level above. Ftp programs typically place you in the home directory of user. If you load it in the web directory you see as soon as you login, it is the user/web dir which can be used as a staging area. You can check this out by visiting your site url www.yourdomainname.com/~username. You must type in your username which has been provided to you. If you see the site contents here, means that the contents are in the /user/web dir. So upload the site contents in the right location i.e in the /web rather than username/web.

22.I want to delete the default POP a/c in my site admin page. should I?

Well THe default POP a/c has the site admin and the FTP rights so don't delete it! Incase you still want to , forst create a user who has the site admin rights and theFTP rights and then delete the default user a/c.
