A leader

There was a time, long ago,
When a leader-meagre in wants seated on a mat,
thinking of Divine and noble ways looked upto Heaven
prayed, meditated in deep trance,
Setting communion with powers divine,
treating himself naught
rejoicing in the Natures creation,
unmindful of worldly gains.
Spoke to all, who came to him for solace,
Spoke low in measured voice
telling of truth and noble ways,
urging people to seek blessings through noble deeds.
'Look in', he said,' and clean yourself of wants
which make you impoverished
in spiritual ways.
Love you all, the God's children.
Thus he spoke and went into trance
enjoying the bliss from the fountain head.

And now,
We have a leader,
hefty, loud-mouthed, crafty,
proficient in material ways
sitting on an easy chair,
within the four walls of a bungalow.
Eats a rich breakfast and waits.

Yes, waits for his flock to give him a cheering hand.
Haven't you look at our manifesto, he moans,
We can solve all of your problems', he groans.
I am your leader, your chosen one,
No doubt, we shall try to solve your problems
one by one.
Thus speaks the leader in confident tone,
marking his time till the day he finds that his leadership is gone.
